Study- excursion 2023 Spring

88 students (73 international students and 15 Japanese students) participated in the first study excursion in 2023. On the day of the trip, we were able to see the blue sky in Murodo, although the weather was bad due to a typhoon until the day before the trip. There were many reviews from students such as “I was moved by the scenery beyond my imagination. The weather was perfect and the scenery was very good. I was able to see the Raicho (ptarmigan) up close. The scenery is beautiful.”

All 46 people (35 international students and 9 Japanese students) participated in the second Study-excursion in 2023. There were many voices from the participants that they were happy because they were able to experience special Japanese ceramic art and deepen their understanding of Japan and Toyama. We received many comments such as `` I enjoyed this excursion because it was a unique experience so learned a lot of new things.'', ``I was able to experience pottery making for the first time, and I was able to communicate with Japanese students, so it was a great tour.''

34 people (26 international students and 8 Japanese students) gathered for the first study excursion in 2022. They toured the inside of Kaiwomaru, a large training sailing ship whichi is exhibiting at Kaiwomaru Park after crossing the Shinminato Bridge in Imizu City. And also they looked around Uchikawa. Although Toyama was the hottest place in Japan on the day, there were many reviews from students such as “It was fun. I learned a lot about Toyama. Kaiwomaru was very interesting. I made new friends and enjoyed nice scenery.”

42 people (36 international students and 6 Japanese students) gathered for the 2nd study excursion in 2022 and visited Gokayama, a World Heritage site. In addition, they experienced Japanese paper postcard making at Gokayama Washi no Sato. There were reviews from students after the excursion such as "I was able to learn a lot from the great sense of history and the wisdom of the old people. I was able to actually experience traditional Japanese culture. I was able to make many new friends. It was a lot of fun.”

All 19 people (15 international students and 4 Japanese students) gathered for the first study excursion in 2021 and visited Toyama Glass Studio in Toyama City to experience making glass works. There were many appreciation of "I had the opportunity to make the first glass work, and it was fun to interact with Japanese students and international students."

All 16 people (13 international students and 3 Japanese students) gathered for the second study excursion in 2021 and visited the Nousaku manufatural factory in Takaoka City to experience casting. Many people said, "I had an experience that I couldn't usually do. It was an opportunity to interact with other students. I'm glad I learned about various things."

We took place three online meetings for international students of the university of Toyama who experienced a different university life in 2020 due to the global pandemic of COVID-19.The meetings were held twice in June in the middle of the first semester, and once in August when the semester ends (Student Participants: 1st 16 people, 2nd 10 people, 3rd 10 people).The students shared their concerns and questions in the pandemic era, and those who could not return to their own countries even after the summer vacation had chances to make connections between students.In the third meeting, in order to alleviate anxiety toward the start of the second semester, administrative staffs from each school joined and answered to questions from international students directly.

A short-term international student from Leiden University, Netherlands visited the Tonami Tulip Fair venue (10 people) for a cultural experience in Toyama Prefecture, and had a production experience (8 people) at Toyama Glass Studio, a cultural facility in Toyama. There were many reviews on the excursions such as "It was very fun" and "I want to participate again".

During the rainy season, 21 students (10 international students and 11 Japanese students) gathered for the first study excursion in 2017 and visited Toyama Municipal Folkcraft Village. At Toyama Municipal Folkcraft Village, volunteer guides explaned the details about each facility in both Japanese and English. Students could hear the guides' explanations closely and ask many questions. There were many voices after the excursion such as "I had a lot of fun" and "I want to participate again".
